Creating content and understanding that is should be created, for a web based project is very often the moment where you determine whether the project will thrive or fall.

Too many times have I had a client who is eager for beautiful and fast functionality, and somehow just not so eager for hiring a content creator.

MARKETING SPECIALISTS OFTEN CROSS THE LINE AND DO CONTENT CREATION ON THEIR OWN

CLIENTS HAVE BEEN SHOWN BY FREELANCERS, THAT A PROJECT CAN BE A ONE-MAN-JOB

AN EXTRA PERSON IS EXTRA EXPENSES

WRITING IS SO SIMPLE, EVERYONE DOES IT ALL THE TIME

The Problem

Every project has a budget. The client wants less expenses. The project manager does not want to upset the client and therefor does not push their opinion. Design sketches can be made with lorem ipsum and stock photos and everyone is happy till they see it with the real content. Or even worse, understand that there is no relevant content to enter. Now the whole team will have to redo the whole thing. No one is happy. The client may even lose interest and walk away.

The Solution

You can stand your ground and refuse a client, who refuses to do their part. (But don’t do it, before you have tried the next one.) Show the client a bad example. Take design sketches from another project with lorem ipsum texts and stock images and then show the client the page with the real content. (This has worked for me!)

Prevent it. Just put the content creator fees in the budget. Quit forcing such an important decision on your client! Take it as a norm. Show your client that they have chosen you to be the professional who will guide them through this process with the best possible outcome.

The Results

By preventing the problem of lack of real content, you can make designers work more efficient and precise.

Your developers will work according to exact skethes that will show all the buttons and functionality.

The project will get handed over much sooner. Therefor the eventual costs will be lower, the profit larger and client happier.

Like, why don’t we all do it this way?

A goal without a plan is just a wish.
